Participation in a 10-day Writer’s Grantual to London, United Kingdom (March 2013)

It was an honour to be chosen as one of the 10 young Malaysian writers to participate in a 10-day writer’s grantual to London (United Kingdom) organized by Institut Terjemahan dan Buku Malaysia (ITBM) dan Persatuan Penulis Nasional (PENA).

During the 10 days in London, I was privileged to meet up with individuals who imparted knowledge and enriched my life through their sharing. They include Awang Goneng aka Wan Ahmad Hulaimi (the author of ‘Growing Up In Trengganu’ and ‘A Map Of Trengganu’), Zaharah Othman (well-known Malaysian journalist based at London), Dr. Annabel The Gallop (British Library’s Malay and Indonesia Collection Curator), Sheikh Afifi, Datuk Dr. Ng Kah Ming, Datuk Yunus Raiss and many other Malaysians who have crafted a success story for themselves in London.

My first experience in a 4-season country has expanded the horizons of my life. I return to my country feeling more inspired than before; to write better stories to be shared with the world. I believe this is the turning point in my writing career where I vow to hone the gems in me to shine even brighter.
